Although he has an item forever dedicated to him, it's an item nobody will ever really want or be super excited about.This. Its fixed stats are not particularly helpful, and even a well-rolled item would be average at best. If you look at the potential stats for Halcyon's Ascent, it's not a particularly good item. The thing that's genuinely hysterical about Halcyon's Ascent, is that it's a troll gift to Deadmau5. Watching enemies imitate a rave is hilarious to watch, and leaves them exposed for quick execution. Featuring his original stage name (Halcyon441), the iconic Mau5 head icon, and lyrics from his Grammy-nominated track "Raise Your Weapon", the item is a clear tribute to Zimmerman's music. Deadmau5 is a notorious Diablo 3 player, and an even more notorious troll. Halcyon's Ascent is Diablo 3's tribute to Joel 'Deadmau5' Zimmerman, famed electronic music artist. "You drain life from enemies around you."īut what does a Wedding Band have to do with draining life from everyone around you?. For those who are unfamiliar, Bul-Kathos is a legendary Barbarian in the Diablo universe, who was responsible for uniting the Barbarian tribes but that's not what's funny. This is a more subtle item than the others on the list. ![]() Pox Faulds are nothing short of disgusting, but allowing players to replicate Ghrom's poison cloud is innovative and hilarious. I ended up wearing those items for over 40 levels, and I'm damned proud of it. ![]() My character literally shit himself in self-defense. "Stinky: You were frightened, so you resorted to the most primitive of survival tactics." I didn't fully get the joke until a moment later, when the active triggered in combat. When I identified them, I was filled with skeptical delight: they were indeed a huge upgrade, and the effect on them was amazing. Pox Faulds were the first legendary that I found when I booted up Reaper of Souls and began leveling my Monk, who at the time was a meager level 23. Homing Pads are a solid legendary even without the unique effect, but their troll-y benefits make them truly worth using. Although they make an admittedly good exit strategy for hardcore players, how often do you expect to really need to port back to town while in combat? Most players I see simply pull certain death to their friends before safely warping back home. Going beyond making me feel nostalgic rage, the Homing Pads are funny because their effect is useless for most players in Diablo 3, unless you plan on trolling your teammates. Anyone that played World of Warcraft during its vanilla days will recall the frustration of a Paladin going LOLNOEP and vanishing back to their home location. Homing Pads is hilarious simply because it's bubble-hearth in an item. ![]() The Bovine Bardiche is hysterical because it legitimizes the joke that has been with Diablo 3 for over a decade, and the way they swing those spears just had me dying. Though the cows aren't too mechanically beneficial, having a small army of ghost-cow followers is too entertaining and awesome to deny. This isn't the first time Blizzard has taken their in-joke to the next level (Mists of Pandaria, anyone?), and it won't be the last. Whispers of powerful cow magic are a long part of Diablo's history, and the Cow King makes a direct appearance when players enter Whimsyshire, so the Bovine Bardiche is (strangely somehow) lore compliant within the series. It should be no surprise that Blizzard included a cow-themed item in Diablo 3.
